Porshe R. Garner

Porshé R. Garner is a doctoral candidate in Education Policy Organization and Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her work investigates and analyzes alternative forms of power and how it manifest in the intergenerational space of the collective Saving Our Lives Hear Our Truths (SOLHOT). This alternative power is what she terms Black girlhood spirituality and she is interested in how Black girls make use of the metaphysical to reorder relationships to knowledge production, power, and sound.  The working title of her forthcoming dissertation isPresent Day Prophets: An Exploration of Black girlhood Spirituality in Saving Our Lives Hear Our Truths (SOLHOT).
